Each apartment has a complete kitchen, including electric stove, side-by-side refrigerator, and garbage disposal; carpet; central air conditioning; individual thermostat; patio or balcony; controlled access entry system; cable TV access; emergency pull cords; and walk-in storage closet and Wi-Fi Internet access. The one-bedroom apartments are approximately 625 square feet.

What services are offered at Allen Terrace?

Allen Terrace offers many services such as: 24-hour emergency maintenance service; weekday lunch program provided by Wayne County Nutrition Services for a $2.25 donation; transportation to shopping, banks, doctors appointments provided by the Northville Senior Center for a nominal charge; monthly activities; library; Beauty Nook; exercise area; laundromat, and computer lab with high speed internet. The wait for an apartment depends on the preference category of each applicant. An average of one apartment per month is vacated. The Northville Housing Commission has the following selection preferences:

  • City of Northville residents
  • Former City of Northville residents
  • Parents and grandparents of City of Northville residents
  • City of Northville employees, former City employees, and parents and grandparents of city employees
  • Northville Township residents, including their parents and grandparents
  • All other applicants

Can an application be completed even if the applicant is not interested in moving now?

Yes, the Northville Housing Commission has a "will call" status, which allows applicants to place their name on the waiting list and to call the Commission when they are interested in moving.

Does the Northville Housing Commission have government assisted (subsidized) housing?

The Northville Housing Commission manages Allen Terrace, an apartment community for independent senior citizens, age 55 and older. The rent includes heat, electricity, and water.
